My Top Primers For Every Occasion

Hiya lovelies!

I have been in a right little muddle for the past few days! You know when you just want to blog.. but you can’t? Yep… my internet had been playing up for a few days so I couldn’t write up my posts/catch up on blogs/YouTube like I normally would! Boo! I love chilling out in the evenings and catching up on my faves.. so have definitely missed being able to do so! BUT GUESS WHAT.. It is now SORTED! So.. as you can imagine.. I felt a little bit out of the blogging loop! I am SO happy so finally sit down and just talk to you all!

A little update.. I AM ON HOLIDAY SOON! I have decided that whilst on holiday.. I am going to be going on a little bit of a “blogging break”… so for the 7 days I am in Turkey.. I will not be scheduling/uploading blog posts or videos! It is the first holiday me and the hubs are going on together…so I honestly want to spend all the time there just enjoying it! I will definitely upload as normal before going.. as I have some exciting ideas for videos and posts! AND OF COURSE.. things will be BACK to normal when I get back too.. as Ramadan will also be over.. so it will be back to my 2 posts, 1 video a week! Yay!

SO…. you will never guess what I have for you all.. it’s only a post ALL ABOUT PRIMERS! So many of you LOVED my cream makeup post… and as I have built up a little (yes.. very little) collection of primers (may I add that I absolutely LOVE)… I thought it would be the perfect beauty blog post!

There are SO many primers out there.. all offering different things… mattifying/brightening skin, smoothing out lines/wrinkles, closing up pores, making your makeup last longer… they really are an essential when it comes to applying my makeup. I cannot even tell you how horrific (OK…slight exaggeration there) my skin feels when I skip primer. Seriously guys.. if you are not using a primer… do it now. I can guarantee (if you pick the right one), that your foundation will go on so much easier, last longer, and not gather in all those places on your face that you really don’t want it to.

Like I mentioned before… I have found a nice collection of primers that work for me, whatever look I am going for. That of course doesn’t mean I am not on the hunt for some new ones.. make sure to leave me your faves in the comments below!

Ahem… also.. notice my Friend’s inspired titles for each primer. All credit to go to Friends of course (hehe)

The One That Makes My Skin Glow

If you are after a primer that will give your skin a beautiful, healthy glow, yet does not look greasy or sweaty..the Seventeen Skin WOW Primer* is PERFECT! I have oily skin but find this works perfectly for me. It has a lovely, pearly, slightly pink colour and it honestly gives your skin the most beautiful, luminous finish EVER! You can actually use this as a highlighter too.. which I have tried and LOVED! I don’t think this primer actually does a lot for making my foundation last longer.. but I find using a setting spray helps the longevity! I use this primer if my skin is looking dull, if I have not had enough sleep or if I just want a lovely healthy glow to my skin. Love this one.. AND it is so affordable!

The One That Mattifes My Skin Like  A Dream

You know how it is loves.. sometimes you want the most glowing, fresh faced skin.. other times.. you want the most matte, perfect looking skin! As mentioned before.. I suffer from oily skin… so when I want something that is going to keep my skin looking matte all day.. I use the Loreal Infalliable Matte Primer. This is actually my latest primer but I find it works SO well. It is a clear, more gel-style consistency. I feel like this sits on my skin and gives a nice “barrier” between my oily skin and the foundation (if that makes sense, ha!). I also find that I need to use quite a bit of this primer to cover my face.. the “little goes a long way” doesn’t apply to this one I am afraid girls. Despite that.. this works like an absolute DREAM in making my foundation last all day. I find I do not even need a setting spray when I use this.. it is FAB at giving your skin that smooth, pore-less base to apply your makeup on to.

The One That Is Actually For Men

I am sure you have all heard of this crazy beauty hack.. that a product any male in your life probably uses after shaving makes a damn good primer. The Nivea Post Shave Men’s Balm is literally a little dream. I have been using this for months now.. and find it is my go-to primer! I find it gives my skin a lovely, even base to work with, mattifies it (slightly.. not as much as the Loreal one) and also makes my makeup last that little bit longer. Sure.. your face smells slightly like a man when you first apply it.. but promise this disappears! This product is going to last me SO long.. you literally need the tiniest amount of this.. and I love the fact that it is SO affordable! It is definitely a must have.. especially if you are still a newbie to primers!

The One That Is Like Photoshop For Your Skin

This little beauty is the  Hylamide HA Blur Prismatic Blurring Surface Hydrator* .. it is described as doing something completely different when it comes to “blurring” and smoothing skin. It uses something called “Hyaluronic Acid”.. which is what gives it the blurring power… and oh my goodness guys… it is AMAZING! HA is known for it’s anti-aging properties .. which I actually never knew until I received this and did some research! This primer has quite a thick consistency and I use the smallest amount and smooth it all over my skin. You can literally see the difference straight away … my skin honestly looks like it has been blurred to perfection, it is so soft and makes your foundation so easy to blend! This is definitely the perfect thing if you are willing to splurge on a primer. The only thing I do not love about this product is that it has quite a strong scent which I am not a fan of.. however once it has been blended into your skin.. the scent has gone!

So lovelies… they are my top primers.. these have all been trialed, tested and LOVED by me! I highly recommend trying these if you haven’t already!

Let me know if you liked this post darlings.. and also if you want me to do similar ones for other makeup items!

Lots of Love,

The L’oreal one sounds just perfect! And I still haven’t tried the Nivea one, haha whoops 😀 But I’m not actually that much into primers to be honest, I tend to only use them on special occasions. Guess I just need to find the perfect one that will change my make up game 😉

I would love to try the HA Blur at somepoint! I’m so bad for not using primer since I ran out of my favourite (Face Blur from Etude House, absolutely amazing stuff, I recommend if you haven’t given it a go, makes my skin glow and look photoshopped!).
I love stealing Stuart’s shave balm though if I ever feel like I need primer (If I’m going out to a wee party or something) but I think I’ll need to give the others you mentioned in this post a go sometime soon!

That Seventeen highlighter looks beaut – must pick that up! I already love the Hylamide brand for their HA Low Molecular serum, but had no idea they did primers! Another one to add to the list…but it’s ok because you can never have enough make up right?!?

I am curious about Nivea balm after seeing it in Nikkie tutorials and now everyone is raving about it. I am just put off by the scent so I don’t know if I would give it a try. I want to try Hylamide primer, however last time I checked it was out of stock, I need to keep checking 🙂

I have the seventeen one but NEVER used it as a primer, I haven’t ever thought because my skin is really oily! The L’Oreal one sounds ideal for me. My dad actually has the Nivea one – I have tried it before but need to “borrow” it more heeh! Great post, love it xxx
