Buying new makeup is my fave thing ever. Spending ages looking around Boots & Superdrug to see anything exciting that is either new or you lovely bloggers have recommended. I was on a mission last weekend guys. I wanted to find THAT concealer – the ever so popular new Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define. It’s been everywhere recently – bloggers have raved about it, AND it’s even been featured by Cosmo & Glamour. And you know that when something has been featured that much, you need it in your life.
So – I attempted to look online because I knew I’d struggle to get it in stores. IT WAS SOLD OUT. I then went to my local Superdrug – MY SHADE WASN’T THERE. There wasn’t another Superdrug close to me that I could try on Saturday, so I went early Sunday morning to a pretty quiet Superdrug hoping that I’d find it there. I DID. I spent ages finding a shade that would suit me, and I did actually struggle a little bit. My skin has a yellow undertone, and I found that a lot of the shades had a more pink undertone. I went for C8 which I found looked like a pretty good shade in store, so I picked that up, very excited to give it a proper go when I got home.
Firstly – the consistency. It’s definitely a high coverage, thick concealer – so perfect if you have pretty dark circles (me) or areas that you want to cover. It is VERY creamy and I have absolutely no trouble blending it, both with my fingers and a brush. I use the concealer under my eyes and any blemishes. It gives a beautiful matte finish that doesn’t crease under my eyes, lasts the whole day at work, and I find it covers my dark circles amazingly. I have even preferred using this over my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer (which is a BIG thing for me). I just love how creamy and long lasting it is. I have combination skin, so have an oily t-zone and the rest of my face is pretty normal – and this helped keep everything looking pretty matte too (I use Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation and a loose powder most days). I know some bloggers have called it a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape concealer, however I’ve never tried it so can’t comment! The best part is that it’s £4 – so falls in cheaper that any other drugstore concealer that I’ve used and loved. I highly recommend that you pick up this concealer if you haven’t already – it’s definitely going to be one that I keep in my collection, and I can see why it’s been hyped about SO much. My only downfall is that you may struggle to find a shade that matches if you have yellow undertones – for my skin tone C8 works fine, but that was the only one I found that matched, and all the other shades were too pink toned/light.
I also picked up 2 other bits – one of which was a blogger recommendation. The lovely Jade from JadeAnnLoves featured this particular item on her Instastories and I knew I had to have my hands on it. The Rimmel #Insta Fix & Go primer & setting spray made its way into my basket. I think it’s pretty decent at £6.99, especially for a 2 in 1 product. It recommends you spray it on your face before and after applying makeup. I am currently trying this out and will probably give you a quick review on Instastories!
My last purchase was a new foundation from Rimmel – the Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation. I picked this baby up for £8.99 (Rimmel had a ‘buy 2 products get the cheapest half price deal on’) as I always LOVE giving new foundations a go. I thought this one would be nice for the upcoming spring months as it claims to be ‘breathable’ and also has SPF20 in it which is always a bonus right? I am a big fan of Rimmel foundations too (the Wake Me Up one is one of my faves), so I do have high hopes. Will keep you updated on my thoughts!
Right m’loves – there we have my little beauty haul. Have you picked up anything new in the shops recently ? If so let me know so I can check it out too (muahaha).
Also – let me know if you like these little hauls – I personally love seeing what other bloggers have brought – it always gives me inspiration!
